It tastes different from your usual dosa as its entirely made of moongdal and is quite filling. Instant hesarbele/Moongdal dosa
Delicious wholesome dosa with a different taste when you are craving a healthy but satisfying breakfast.
Soak the moongdal for 30-60 mins in water. Drain water and add the moongdal to the mixer.
Add green chillies, ginger, cilantro and coconut and a little water and grind to a smooth paste.
The batter should not be too runny or too thick. Juts the right consistency to be able to spread the batter on the non stick pan easily.Transfer the ground mixture to a bowl and add salt, turmeric ,hing and chopped cilantro and mix well.
Heat a non stick tava/griddle and pour a ladle of batter on it and spread it. The overall thickness of this dosa is thicker than a regular rice dosa. Add oil to the edges of the dosa and let it cook for 1-2 mins on medium heat.
When the dosa starts to brown flip it onto the other side and cook for an additional 30secs.
Remove from tava and transfer to a plate. Serve the dosa with coconut chutney, chutney powder or even ketchup and a little ghee.
While it tastes great when hot, it tastes just as good if sent to school in a hot case.
