This is a very traditional South Indian rice dish made during many festivals or for a traditional spread. There are many varieties of Chitranna and this is one of my favorite. Chitranna is a word that means mixed rice. It is also called bath more commonly. This particular kind of rice tastes amazing, super easy to make and can be served on various occasions. For example as a dish for a big party, you can prep the vegetable part and mix in fresh rice on the day of the event or as a potluck dish, or as quick dinner. Basically the utility of this dish can be decided by you and you can make that decision only after you have read the recipe and tried it out :) Thank you mommy for this awesome recipe.
